Forgiving yourself!

Breakfast was a blueberry muffin, a biscuit, peanut butter, jelly, and a pack of powdered milk.

Forgiveness is a major part of everyone’s lives. We need forgiveness. Sometimes we need the forgiveness of ourselves more than the forgiveness of others. Forgiving yourself is one of the most difficult tasks to truly master. Usually things we would forgive others for, we don’t forgive ourselves if we commit the same act. We tend to be harder on ourselves.

We criticize, even ridicule, ourselves for mistakes we have made, for actions we took, and actions we didn’t take. That sentence was taken direct from Zakia Khalil’s book, The Muslim Mindset. That one line sums up perfectly how most of us feel when it comes to ourselves. Forgive yourself. Yes, it is hard, and yes, in order to start the process of forgiving yourself you may have to hold yourself accountable for some s**tty things you have done or said, but you are worth being forgiven, aren’t you?

Life is hard, no one has it figured out, even if we like to pretend we do. We all know life throws curveballs, as it should — because what type of test would it be if we knew all the answers? Sometimes the best thing you could do is hold on for dear life, and try to keep in mind that after all hardship, God promises us ease. Today is the beginning of Fall. This season, let’s practice the skill of forgiveness, for others, and especially for ourselves. I pray that your journey comes with ease.

Till next time I get a tablet in my hands, remember to Move Smart and Stay Free.
