My answer is NO!

Today is Thursday, October 22nd, 2026. Lunch was shredded turkey, mac and cheese, mixed vegetables, bread, and cake. No is a complete sentence. The word No is not rude, it is not mean, it is not selfish. It is a decision. Peer pressure is real, and learning to say NO is one of the most difficult skills to develop. Especially saying No without the feeling of guilt, an explanation, and without apology. Just No. That's it. No because, no but, no however, just No. Most people say yes when they mean no because they are afraid of disappointing someone, afraid of missing out, or afraid of being seen as difficult. This is called being a people pleaser. I'm going to let you in on an unknown secret: prison is full of people pleasers. We don't take into account that saying yes to things you don't really agree with can cost you. It costs you energy, your focus, your peace, and in our case, our time. Your time is the one resource you can't get back. The most successful people you will encounter are not the most agreeable ones. They are the most intentional ones. They guard their time, their energy, and their attention like the resource it is. Start treating your yes like it's valuable. Get out of the habit of thinking saying no is mean, or requires a lengthy explanation or follow-up conversation. No is a boundary, and boundaries are not walls to keep people out. Boundaries are created to protect what's important. So next time someone requests something from you, be sure you think before you answer, because the answer you give will determine if you're really Moving Smart and planning on Staying Free.
