Behind the Number

Writing from inside — daily life, family, food, mental health, and everything in between. Unfiltered, by other humans.

Today is Thursday, October 15th, 2026. Tonight dinner was chicken patty with BBQ sauce, potatoes, carrots, cornbread, and cake. Jail sucks every day, but some days are harder than others. Today was especially hard because it marked one year since I caught this charge that changed my life for the worse. Today marks the day that I selfishly set out to take a shortcut in life instead of staying the course that was set for me to success. Today was the day that I let my kids and other people that were depending on me down when I had to call and tell them I'm not coming home. Today was the day when I had to notify my bosses and let them know that I had let them down, because they gave me a shot even with the record I had prior to this. Today was the day I saw my future go down the drain, my goals, my ideas, and any project that I was working on. Today was a day I will never forget. A day that has changed the course of my life forever. A day that I wish was just a bad dream. Please, I'm begging you, avoid all shortcuts to riches.

If it sounds too good to be true, then it is. Because I don't want you to have a day like I did on October 15, 2025.

Move Smart and Stay Free.
